【授课内容】（英语授课）It is an elective course, taken usually by students who are either in the 3rd or 4th year. This course has more potential for applications in industry as what is covered can be used to design many automation systems in industry. Sometimes such automation is referred to as “low-cost automation”. There is none of the traditional mathematics in this course but only Boolean Algebra, the mathematics for logic which is used in the design of digital computers.

【主讲人简介】符安超（Poo Aun Neow），男，1946年生，博士，新加坡国立大学机械工程教授，博士生导师。现任新加坡海洋产业协会主席、工作场所安全与健康协会委员，《Robotica》、《Journal of Robotic Systems》及《International Journal of Control and Intelligent Systems》杂志编委。

研究方向：机器人学与自动化、智能控制、机电一体化。

获奖与荣誉：新加坡公共管理杰出贡献银奖，新加坡工程师协会金质奖章、新加坡工程师协会卓越工程成就奖，新加坡国立大学优秀教学奖、工程学院教学荣誉奖，新加坡海洋产业协会金质奖章，新加坡工程师协会荣誉院士，新加坡公共服务奖章等。

科研及学术成果：在国际期刊和会议上发表了250余篇学术论文，引用率大于1300次；培养了19名博士生和30名工程硕士生；作为主席、副主席或组委会成员组织和参加了多次国际学术会议；获美国、台湾和新加坡授权专利4项。
