On 19 and 20 of October 2019, “Perceive China-Beautiful New Hainan” Chinese government scholarship international students studying in China social and cultural experiment activity was carried out successfully, funded by China Scholarship Council and undertook by Hainan University.

Under the guidance of the Vice President of the School of International Education Liang Liu, 80 international students from 21 different countries in the world studying in China with Chinese government scholarship visited the Haikou internet town, Dendrobium planting base, China (Hainan) Museum of the South China Sea, Hainan Chunguang Foodstuff Co., Ltd. and Wenchang Aerospace Science Museum. 

The first stop is the Haikou internet town, everyone came here with great expectations and excitement. This is a new type of agricultural town using a “1+2+N” operating model to run through the whole industrial chain of agricultural production, marketing, management and service.

The production of Dendrobium is a featured industry of the Shishan town, under the running pattern of “internet+agriculture”, this industry has become Shishan town’s primary industry. Through the e-commerce platform, Dendrobium of Shishan town was sold to places around the world. Many students were fascinated with Dendrobium and they asked bunch of questions toward Dendrobium to staff members. Staff members explained their confusions and questions accordingly.

Neat houses, playful children, and busy adults have contented smiles on their faces. This internet town which once visited and fully praised by General Secretary Xi let students to deeply experience the huge dividends brought to rural areas and farmers by the construction of a new socialist countryside in China.

After bidding farewell to Shishan Town, where nature and technology are combined, the group forwarded to the China (Hainan) Museum of the South China Sea which locates at the Tanmen town of Qionghai city. It is a comprehensive museum aims to present Nanhai's cultural history, natural ecology, Nanhai cultural heritage protection, and promote cultural exchanges between countries and regions along the Maritime Silk Road. The China (Hainan) Museum of the South China Sea’s construction and opening provide fine conditions and basic guarantee for digging, presenting, researching and protecting the splendid history and culture of South China Sea and its rich historical materials.

From the South China Sea’s Humanities History Exhibition to the Xisha Huaguang Reef I Shipwreck Special Exhibition to the China Underwater Archaeology and the South China Sea Underwater Cultural Heritage Protection Museum, a variety of archaeological collections are displayed in front of the students in stunning postures. You can hear the exclamation of students from time to time. The students commented: "I can't imagine that China has such a long history of developing the South China Sea!"

Hainan Chunguang Foodstuff Co., Ltd. is a shinning pearl of Hainan's specialty industry. It is established 1996 in the beautiful homeland of coconut - Wenchang City’s east countryside coconut grove in Hainan Province. Here through field visits, the students learned about the development history of local enterprises in Hainan province, experienced the characteristic culture of enterprises, and perceived the development achievements of enterprises.

The students said that they should study hard and make a good career plan to contribute to the construction of the "Belt and Road" and the Hainan Free Trade Pilot Zone. 

Wenchang Aerospace Science Museum takes the development history of China's aerospace as its main line, and vividly displays the past, present, and future of China's aerospace industry with diversified display methods through detailed and precious historical data and rich objects and models.

This is what shocked all the students. Looking at the tireless exploration and pursuit by generations of Chinese astronauts, they commented: "The craftsmanship of Chinese aerospace workers is admirable, no wonder China is the being of a space power!"

"I love China, I love Hainan. I not only love their beautiful scenery, but also their generous mind and vitality." The students commented on the return journey.

This event aims to enhance the knowledge and understanding of international students with Chinese government scholarship of outstanding Chinese historical and cultural inheritance, achievements in the construction and development of a new socialist countryside, China’s scientific and technological strength, and Hainan’s local corporate culture. To promote communications between teachers and students, students and students, and at the same time cultivate their friendly feelings and identification of China, and inspire enthusiasm for learning.
